2007-2008 EPL Predictions

As some of you know, in the Barclay’s English Premier League, there are 20 teams. At the end of the season, the bottom 3 teams are relegated to the Championship league (step below) and the 2 top teams + 1 (winner of a playoff between teams 3-6) in the Championship League step up to the Premier League to take their place. The season is spread out over 10 months (August-May) and consists of 38 games. Every team plays every other team twice (home and away). The point system is such: Win = 3 Tie/Draw = 1 Loss = 0. Your point total is what determines your standing within the league’s table. Last season, Manchester United won the league with a total of 89 points. Sheffield United 38, Charlton Athletic 34, and Watford 28 were all relegated to the Championship league and Sunderland, Birmingham City and Derby County take their place. My predictions are as follows (and this DOES take into account Wayne Rooney’s injury this opening weekend)

1) Chelsea 90
2) Liverpool 84
3) Manchester United 78
4) Tottenham Hotspur 68
5) Arsenal 66
6) Aston Villa 65
7) Newcastle United 59
8) Manchester City 58
9) Blackburn Rovers 56
10) Everton 55
11) Reading 49
12) Birmingham City 48
13) Portsmouth 44
14) Bolton Wanderers 43
15) West Ham United 38
16) Middlesbrough 36
17) Sunderland 35
18) Fulham 32
19) Derby County 30
20) Wigan Athletic 25
